Advanced Energy Expands Management Team With Key New Hires

FORT COLLINS, Colo., June 24,2002—Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS) today announced the hiring of three key management positions in the areas of finance, operations and information technology.

 

Thomas K. Werning, 42, was named vice president of finance, and will oversee all aspects of the company's worldwide finance organization. Mr. Werning was most recently senior vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Cirilium Corporation. Prior, he was vice president of finance and operations at Hypercom Network Systems, and earlier, the European controller for Marion Merrell Dow. His background covers all areas of finance and operations, strategic planning, financial analysis and organizational development.

Scott B. Burton, 41, was named senior vice president of worldwide operations, and will be responsible for the company's manufacturing, outsourcing and supply chain management programs. Mr. Burton has over 17 years of experience with Seagate, IBM, and Conner Peripherals in senior operations, planning, and business development positions. Most recently, he was vice president of operations for Seagate's Far East Operations, where he led the company's supply chain and six sigma quality initiatives.

Joseph P. Kovach, 42, was named vice president and chief information officer, and will be responsible for the coordination of Advanced Energy's worldwide information technology infrastructure. Mr. Kovach joins Advanced Energy from Interlink Group, a privately held software development and network infrastructure consulting firm, where he was chief operating officer since November 2000. Prior, he was senior vice president and chief information officer at R.L. Polk & Co. and earlier, he held management positions at Electronic Data Systems in operations and information technology.
