Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. Awarded Colorado Business of the Year

FORT COLLINS, Colorado (April 15, 1996)—Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (AE) has been named Colorado Business of the Year by the Economic Developers Council of Colorado. One business is selected annually for its unique contribution to economic development in the state.

 

AE was nominated for the efforts of Sue Schell, Vice President of Human Resources, in using funds from Colorado Existing Industry (CEI) to train not only AE employees, but also our vendors’ employees. “Cluster training,” the term for Schell’s idea to train more than just in-house employees, has now been adopted by CEI to make their funds go farther.

Founded in 1980, AE is a leading supplier of power conversion and control systems for plasma-based thin film production equipment. AE’s systems are critical to industrial processes that use gaseous plasmas to deposit or etch thin film layers on materials or substrates such as glass, silicon, and metals during the manufacture of semiconductors, data storage media, flat panel displays, and a host of other products.
