Advanced Energy Names Mario Guerrero Vice President of Strategic Planning

Fort Collins, Colo., January 3, 2002—Advanced Energy Industries (Nasdaq: AEIS) today announced the appointment of Mario Guerrero to the newly created position of Vice President of Strategic Planning.

 

Mr. Guerrero, 51, has an extensive background in strategic consulting and operations that spans nearly thirty years. He will be responsible for the corporate strategy planning process and guiding the company’s activities to align the business unit strategies with the overall corporate strategic direction.

Doug Schatz, Advanced Energy’s Chairman and CEO, said, “Mario has been consulting with Advanced Energy for several months, working with each of the business units to define their short and long-term goals and initiatives. We are pleased to have him join Advanced Energy in a full-time position that will centralize the corporate strategic planning process and will help position Advanced Energy to achieve its strategic goals.”

Most recently, Mr. Guerrero founded and managed MAG Associates, Ltd., an independent consulting firm that specialized in business strategy, organizational change and operational improvement. He was formerly a partner with The Canaan Group, a boutique consulting firm, and prior, a senior associate specializing in technology and strategy consulting at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc. Mr. Guerrero also has operations and sales experience as a former Texas Instruments manager in both North and Central American locations. Mr. Guerrero has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
